From coast to coast, Yuk Yuk’s is a name synonymous with sidesplitting entertainment. Established in Toronto in 1976 by veteran comedian Mark Breslin, the club has since helped launch the careers of such Canadian jokesters as Howie Mandel, Rick Moranis, Tom Green, Norm Macdonald, and Jim Carrey—to name a few. And since the seventies, Yuk Yuk’s has become a national chain for stand-up, with locations in Calgary, Halifax, Niagra Falls, and Vancouver. Featuring both professional comedians of international fame as well as up-and-coming homegrown humorists, Yuk Yuk’s provides an ample platform for chortles, chuckles, and full-on belly convulsions.
Are You Havin’ a Laugh?
Check out the new generation of comedians on Tuesdays, Yuk Yuk’s amateur night, which showcases the sketch stylings of Humber College students (yes, there is a school of comedy), as well as new talent trying out new material. From Wednesday through to Sunday, a revolving roster of more accomplished funnymen grace the stage, with a new joker each week. The comic material is not at all censored, so be forewarned that dirty jokes may be told—which explains why only people sixteen and older are allowed entry to the club. A la carte dining is available by reservation before the show, and patrons are proffered drinks and snacks during the antics. Dinner and show packages are available for groups of fifteen or more. Just don’t snort your drink while you snicker.
