This is a true neighbourhood café where regulars come on a daily basis to meet and chat while enjoying Seattle’s best brand of coffee with various pastries. It also acts as a meeting place for various local groups who enjoy the low noise level and the tasty treats. World Class Bakers is now a Nabernet FreeSpot which means you can bring your WiFi-enabled laptop or PDA and access your email or surf the web. This is good news for those who need to work through dinner or students who must catch up on their studies. The café has fast become a local drop in centre with broad appeal – you’ll see mothers with babes in strollers, school kids, business people and seniors out for a stroll.
Just Like Mom Used to Make
World Class Bakers offers an affordable all-you-can-eat European and vegetarian buffet daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Featured are soups prepared from scratch, organic greens and home-style entrées such as turkey with stuffing, Tuscany-style chicken cacciatore and spinach lasagne. All of the dishes are house prepared with natural ingredients and cooked in pure oils. Many of these eastern European recipes date back almost 200 years! Italian and Greek dishes are also available, as well as catering services for private parties and weddings.
A variety of freshly baked cakes and other pastries are available daily, all made with natural ingredients. The carrot cake is out of this world, as are the whole-wheat date squares, which are a definite favourite. They’re great with a cup of tea or coffee or have them packaged to take home for an after-dinner dessert. The 36-seat café has a pleasant décor of warm gold walls and wood panelling and classical music plays in the background.
