This slogan couldn’t be more fitting. Boasting one of the city’s more upscale vegetarian and vegan dining experiences, the owners of Vegetarian Haven have relocated their once-Etobicoke, now-downtown Toronto establishment in an effort to fill a sorely void niche in Hogtown’s herbivorous bistro choices.
Boutique-style Atmosphere
Feeling that most vegetarian restaurants operate under the premise of a “rural country atmosphere,” the creators of Vegetarian Haven have incorporate the exposed brick and hardwood flooring with candlelight table service to create an environment that has been referred to by some patrons as the eatery equivalent of a boutique: unique, quiet and incredibly comfortable.
Exquisite Gourmet Options
With a menu made up of a sophisticated array of options including baked spring rolls, avocado wraps, seitan (wheat meat) burgers, curried Pad Thai and (most importantly) a full vegan dessert menu, it’s clear that this isn’t your average beans-and-tofu cookhouse. No, they pride themselves on their coupling of an inexpensive gourmet menu with reasonable fair to boot. This is also the reason that they have become quite famous amongst a vast array of clientele ranging from students and first-daters looking for a quiet get-to-know-you/impress me joint (Vegetarian Haven has strong dibs with the Valentine’s dinner crews each year) as well as financially comfortable, health-conscious seniors.
“Liquorless” Paradise
Let it be said though that Vegetarian Haven is casual…just not to the point of a bar. With a focus on upscale service and meals only, Vegetarian Haven has opted out of serving liquor. This also ensures that dining experiences are solely pleasurable and never interrupted by, er…overindulging.
