At Toula, a glass-walled fine dining establishment on the water, every angle is a good angle. This place does it all –lunch, dinner, drinks, dessert, even Sunday brunch. There’s rarely a typical starter on the menu so this isn’t a place for the narrow-minded diner. The octopus salad, for example, comes in a tangy lemon oil emulsion, the parma proscuitto with melon pearls makes for a delightful mix of sweet and salty, and there’s always the soup of the day. The lunch menu is sparse but not spare on flavour. First courses include a quad of pastas and the main dishes range from grilled Cornish hen, to grilled seafood on risotto to veal.
Sunset Dinner
Dinnertime offers a few more choices such as the steamed white asparagus in truffle sauce and the salmon bisque. Handmade gnocchi comes in a mushroom and chicken ragout, or you can have spaghetti, pappardelle, linguine, bowties or risotto. Order one of a trio of fish and seafoods or opt for a meat dish, like herb-crusted rack of lamb or beef filet in truffle sauce with potato puree. Be sure to ask for a wine list –you can order from a variety of reds, whites and champagnes by the glass or bottle before polishing your palate off with one of Toula’s delectable Italian desserts. Crème brulee, sorbet, vanilla mousse and pear dipped in dark chocolate and amaretto are incredible.
Sunday BrunchSunday brunch is an event that starts you off with a choice of soup or salad, then gives you the option of ordering a light morning drink like a mimosa, bloody Mary or a bellini. Brunch mains include omelettes, frittata, eggs Benedict, French toast or pancakes as well as some atypical options like pan seared salmon and tomato-basil penne.
