The Centre Of It All
The Eaton Centre’s imposing, glass-based structure is situated at the crux of the financial and business districts, and is close to Ryerson University and the Queen St. retail strip. So, at lunchtime and in the months before the winter holidays, the mall is usually packed with busy worker bees, exhausted parents and noisy students. But the six airy stories of sparkling pale tile, glass roofing and an open-concept centre (that houses a gigantic fountain) allows for room to breathe, even during rush hours. The Centre’s progressive architecture also makes it one of the most visited tourist attractions in the city.
More Than 300 Stores
The architecture is not the Eaton Centre’s only attraction — the mall also houses more than 300 stores. From rare clothiers like Spain’s Mango to Bebe Sport to Jacob Lingerie, some of these shops can only be found in Toronto at this location. Besides clothing, the building offers a two-story Indigo bookstore, toy, pet and speciality stores and a number of restaurants (both stand alone and cafeteria-style). The mall is also attached on either end by two leading Canadian department stores — Sears and The Bay (accessible by a glass walkway.)

Throughout the year, the Eaton Centre boasts a number of live entertainment events. The mall hosts seasonal events like Christmas and Easter parades, as well as competitions and community and charity events. Beauty and tasting demonstrations are also hallmarks of the Eaton Centre’s live events, as are celebrity appearances. Other amenities of this mall include parking, a pretty courtyard, proximity to transit and several vibrant neighbourhoods, and the ease of shopping that so many stores in one place brings.
