Thai Basil’s motto is “Thai food. Thai taste. Thai cooks only.” The quest for authenticity begins with the décor (the restaurant is filled with original Thai art pieces) and ends with its chefs, all of whom are (you guessed it) from Thailand. Thai Basil’s head chef has over 15 years of experience preparing authentic Thai food, and has worked in international hotels and restaurants all over Thailand and South East Asia. Following in the footsteps of upscale Thai restos like East! and Spring Rolls, Thai Basil’s décor is sparse, fresh and minimalist.
Choose Your Level of Spiciness!
Thai Basil’s menu features over 100 dishes that mix classic Thai and South Asian flavours with modern twists. Appetizers include several of the roll variety (various spring rolls and cold rolls) as well as deep fried treats like Thai prawn cakes, crispy shrimp pancake and deep fried chicken wings. Mains include the usual suspects (curry, pad Thai and noodle dishes) but the restaurant offers some more exciting options like Panang curry salmon and red curry duck. Thai Basil is a great choice for vegetarians. Most mains have a veggie option, from the curries (red, yellow, or green) to the stir fry dishes. There’s also a full side of the menu with traditional vegetarian specialties like “Tung Choi” (water spinach) served in several different styles. Most dishes can be made mild, medium or very spicy.
Cool Off
Thai food means light meals with fresh flavours, so you’ve earned the right to have dessert. Finish off your meal with a deep fried banana with honey and Grand Marnier or some refreshing tropical ice cream. After all of those spices, you’ll enjoy something cool and sweet!
