Aimed at a slightly older crowd of businesspeople and professionals, Schmooze is a nightclub for those who enjoy, and can afford, the finer things in life. Geared towards men over the age of 25, and women over the age of 23, Shmooze tends to get going somewhat earlier than other clubs in the area, and lineups can begin to form as early as 7:30. The wait, however, is worth it just to check out the atmosphere. Fine, modern décor is tastefully blended with decadent detail throughout, and includes hardwood floors, exposed brick, designer furniture, and flourishes of tasteful flower arrangements and art. A great place to host your own party, Shmooze is available for your private parties Sunday to Thursday.
Make Connections While Dining or Dancing
The details are intimate, but the main Schmooze club room is cavernous, with a capacity of almost 1000. Friday and Saturday nights are club nights, the dance floor packed with people shimmying to old and new R&B, Latin, House and disco beats. The weekend at Shmooze gets started when the doors open at 4 p.m. for Friday After Work, where Toronto’s professionals can enjoy dinner and drinks. At 9 p.m., the lights drop, the dance floor opens up, and the party gets going. Unique martini and cocktail lists keep partiers moving. Saturdays feature Shmooze’s Saturday Night Dinner with a menu of haute cuisine dishes like duck confit, emerald Vietnamese spring rolls, grilled Chilean sea bass and Shmoozin’ scallops.
Schmooze in the Open Air
A more recent addition to Shmooze is the Rooftop 15 patio. Done up in equal amounts of detail as the rest of Shmooze, Rooftop 15 feels almost like a bar at a Mediterranean resort, with waterfalls trickling in the background and light, pale wood accents. The visible downtown Toronto skyline is a gentle reminder to customers of their actual location. The full Shmooze dinner is available on all nights that Rooftop 15 is open, along with a tapas menu on Thursdays.
