Profile Last Updated: July 11, 2008
Since 1991, Rhino Bar & Grill has stayed true to its down-home roots despite settling in a neighbourhood full of upscale establishments. The building itself was constructed in 1909 as Elm Grove House and adopted as a Heritage Building in the seventies. Its well-worn, comfortable atmosphere features casual dining in an open concept space, with furnishings that are typical pub. A faux-rhino head stares at patrons with a fedora parked precariously on its noggin, and stained wooden floors are offset by a massive picture window that looks out into Parkdale.
Entertainment Provided
Although the awesome beer selection usually draws in the crowds, there is plenty to keep everyone in high spirits. Pool tables and video games offer inexpensive entertainment in the back and a secluded patio ensures outdoor enjoyment. If staying in the Great Indoors is your thing, the two Rhino skylights encourage a tranquil sunlit atmosphere. The food is typical pub – burgers, salads – but the price is well below most of the other restaurants in the area.
Variety of Brews
At Rhino, a variety of microbrews flow regularly from The Rhino’s 12 taps. For the more worldly beer connoisseur, Rhino offers over 300 beers from all over the globe. Or, order from the selection of original, staff-created drinks and traditional domestic/imported beers.
