The perfect place for hipsters with child, Polka Dot Kids puts a stylish spin on everything from sleepers to spitting up. Polka Dot Kids has been keeping the cool kids in clothes, trinkets and toys since 2005. Because of the store’s green-conscious sensibilities they try to focus on safe, sustainable wooden toys over shiny, plastic playthings. You’ll find everything from old-school games—think hand-carved animals with red noses and pull strings—to shiny new gadgets. They also carry a variety of imports from Germany, Japan and France so your kids can enjoy a little international culture without leaving the city.
The Store that Grows with You
If your little one has outgrown the easy bake oven and wants to try the real thing, pick up a set of cookie cutters from German company Stadter. You’ll find a menagerie of large and small animals and everyday objects, complete with little details like button noses and toothy grins.
For Politically-Correct Kids
Polka Dot Kids carries supersweet outfits by baby clothiers Lino –local, green-conscious designers who have created a lil’ line of Thai pants, bibs, sleepers, hats and more. You’ll also find newborn and toddler clothing from Imps & Elfs, an Amsterdam-based design company that works with fair trade subsidiaries to ensure all their clothing is child labour-free and made from organic cotton. Your kids will feel great in these soft onesies; you’ll feel fantastic about supporting sustainable, cruelty-free companies.
