Greek Odyssey
A downtown destination for authentic Greek dishes, Penelope applies centuries of culinary wisdom to its broad menu, which is also available for take-out and catering. The wine list also highlights reds and whites directly from Greece. Penelope takes its name from a mythological character in the epic poem the Odyssey, whose depiction has led the name to be associated with faithfulness.

Eating Exploration
A meal at Penelope can start by exploring the Greek soups, salads and appetizers: Melitzana (chopped eggplant), Tarama (red caviar) and Tirokafteri (feta, banana pepper and olive oil) are some of the cold starters available on their own, or as a combination platter. Hotter starters include Lukaniko (sausage seasoned with orange rind), Spanakotiropita (filo pastry filled with spinach) and Saganaki (flaming kefalotri cheese with ouzo and lemon), along with calamari and octopus. The entrées include lamb chops, pork tenderloin, Black Angus striploin, beef souvlaki and Athenian chicken schnitzel. The vegetarian-inclined can choose souvlaki or moussaka dishes along with a Mediterranean dip platter.

Delectable Dining
Penelope features a platter designed for two, focused on either meat or seafood. There’s also a fresh catch of the day prepared with cold-pressed olive oil, lemon and oregano, plus salmon, shrimp and scallop dishes. Coffees include Irish, Spanish, Monte Christo and Golden Greek mixtures, along with blueberry tea. Traditional desserts include baklava and a filo pastry with baked custard filling.
