Pam's Caribbean Kitchen calls itself the “not so fast take-out” restaurant. It's true. You won’t get your roti in seconds flat, but you will get it just the way you want it. The restaurant has an island feel to it with a beach scene painted on one wall and plants scattered a bit everywhere. There are just three tables, so most customers opt for take-out. Pam's also sells homemade Caribbean preserves, including pepper sauce and mint chutney.
Roti, Roti, Roti
Roti fans will be pleased with the selection at Pam's. There are a dozen fillings to choose from, all of which come wrapped in Caribbean unleavened flatbread called roti. There are meat options, including boneless chicken, beef and goat. There are plenty of vegetarian options too, like potato, channa (a spicy chick pea and potato mix), squash, spinach, carrots and string beans. Customers can add vegetables to any filling for an extra charge.
Daily Lunch Specials
Pam's has lunch specials that change throughout the week. The most popular is undoubtedly the grilled chicken with rice and salad on Wednesdays. The dish is often sold out by 1 p.m. Other specials are available on more than one day, including oxtail with rice and peas, and fried fish with rice and salad. There are also snacks and appetizers to choose from, such as veggie samosas, pakoras and lentil soup.
