Dedicated to producing, preserving, and promoting original fine art prints, Open Studio is an artist-run centre that provides multi-faceted services and programs for artists and the public. A national organization, Open Studio is affordable, and offers artists from across the board equal access to their facilities, programs and services. As an artist-run organization, supporting and assisting artists in the professional pursuits of their endeavours is Open Studio’s priority.
Fabulous Facilities
Providing artists with production facilities for a plethora of mediums, Open Source can accommodate most any artist at some stage in the development of their masterpiece. They not only offer fine art printing expertise and facilities that are accessible 24 hours a day, but also boast an environmentally safe printmaking studio. In addition to these production level services, Open Studio also offers a showcase gallery, supplies for sale, income generating programs, and exhibitions and scholarships at the local, national and international levels.
Memberships
Many of Open Source’s services are accessible only to members. To become a member, artists have to rent studio space for a minimum of six months and then have their membership application approved by a committee. Indeed, Open Studio seems to demand that its members are as serious as they are about art. Annual membership fees are notably modest, however, and afford artists a multitude of perks, from discounted supplies and services, to access to exclusive entrepreneurial programs.
