French connection
Even though Okaidi’s headquarters are located in France, the label has more than 600 stores worldwide, including a handful in the North American market. One of the few in Canada, Mississauga’s Square One location has easy-to-make hours, full wheelchair accessibility and ample parking.
Eco-conscious couture
One of France’s leading kids’ clothing brands, Okaidi’s approach to design is summed up by its slogan –Working to make a better world for growing children. With each seasonal line the label puts out, there are always a few pieces made from organic cotton. As well, Okaidi uses recycled paper in all its bags and pushes a green message in all marketing material and posters. The label’s founders, the ID Group, have even established OK World, an organization that finances projects run by non-governmental organizations and partner charities around the world. Past initiatives include schooling for street children in Bangladesh, inner-city schooling in Morocco, and building child care centres in Thailand. Caring for your kids with Okaidi helps Okaidi care for kids around the world.
From infant to adolescent
The Okaidi brand outfits children from ages 2-14, while Obaibi creates newborn and infant-wear for babies up to 12 months and toddlers up to five years. Though neither of these names skimps on style, Jacabi is yet another sibling brand that concentrates on high fashion for knee-high toddlers, all the way up to 12 year-olds. You’ll find unisex pants, shorts, T-shirts, sweaters and dresses, as well as accessories like shoes, tights, headbands, jewellery and stuffed animals for toddlers. You might think a European designer would be too pricey for your pocketbook, but Okaidi fashions are very reasonable, with T-shirts starting in the single digits.
