A European Café in Canada
Nova Era Bakery has the feel of a European café combined with a Canadian doughnut shop. The café is bright during the day because it sits on the corner of Dovercourt Road and Bloor Street and it gets sunlight from two sides. The atmosphere is lively, with groups of friends chatting over coffee and young parents letting their children pick out treats from the large selection of baked goodies.

Meals and Snacks
Nova Era offers a selection of sandwiches and salads. All of the sandwiches are made with the café's own fresh bread. Hot sandwiches include the club, chicken and “tosta mista,” which is a Portuguese-style toasted ham and cheese sandwich. The cold sandwiches are, for the most part, deli standards like tuna salad, egg salad and cold cuts. If you're in the mood for something lighter, you might try one of the café's patties, which come stuffed with meat, shrimp or cod fish. There are also plenty of breakfast pastries like muffins, croissants and Portuguese buns.

Baked Goods to Go all Over the West End
There is a wide selection of fresh breads and buns, including multi-grain, rye and sour dough. There are also literally dozens of pastries to choose from. One of the café's top sellers is the custard tart. Fans of it rave about the combined texture of the creamy custard and the flaky pastry. The café makes a variety of cakes, some of which could serve as birthday cakes. The selection includes chocolate, mocha, flan pudding and strawberry cheesecake. Nova Era has several locations in the west end. Besides the one on College Street in Little Italy, there’s one on Dundas Street West near Ossington, on St. Clair Avenue West in Corso Italia, and on Rogers Road near Keele Street.
