The Savage Garden is Toronto’s first “cyberpunk” bar, as coined when William Gibson founded the wild dance space over 10 years ago. The establishment specializes in alternative music only, attracting goths, Industrial freaks and Techno heads to feel right at home. Uncompromising in its underground music selection, you’ll hear everything from Industrial to Retro, Goth to EBM (Electronic Body Music) and Noise to Trance, but no Britney Spears.
Savage Weekly Events
The Savage Garden immerses its alternative guests in a Techno-futuristic Electronic environment of metallic features, like steel-clad doors. Patrons typically dress in equally cyberpunk attire, like body-tight PVC (polyvinyl), goth leggings, or black hand-guards. Regular themed evenings include “Savage Fridays” with Goth, Synth and Industrial and “The Killing Floor” on Saturdays for a little but of everything. Additionally, The Savage Garden can also be rented for private functions and parties.
Alternative Choices
On the first Saturday of every month, Savage Garden hosts “Revolution,” featuring DJ Pale, cheap power beverages and a bunch of free “rev” swag. “Dark Retro” takes place every third Friday with DJs Human Clone and Pale. Doors open at 9pm and mixed drinks are discounted before midnight. Selected Thursdays feature a variety of EBM, Goth, Industrial and Trance, and the venue hosts a number of special events and guests year-round.
