Working under the auspices that the inner essences of food (taste and substance) are what create enjoyable dining experiences, Nectar Restaurant presents diners with sumptuous yet simple fare in a menu that champions the finer elements of its ingredients. The restaurant has a straightforward layout allowing only nouns to describe their fare (“tuna” or “duck” for example). Minor descriptive elements are also used, such as “fire/ice,” or “breast/leg,” so the mind is left to savour the purest base of the meal as opposed to struggling over incorporating various sensations.
A Touch of Class
Leaving the food to sell itself doesn’t mean minimalist design and cold furnishings must follow suit. Instead, one finds the comfort of a dimly lit interior accented by warm colours, exposed brick and ultrasuede paneling. Similarly, the ambience is also established through the presence of a buzzing of conversation, an open kitchen and a calming background felt throughout the dining room. Those wishing for a little more privacy may consider Nectar Restaurant’s private dining room which is available for functions hosting between 10 to 50 guests. With its full bar, water fountain, illuminated columns and substantial sound system, it most certainly fulfills even the heftiest of requirements.
Walking to a Different Drummer
Established as an alternative to its traditional King Street West fine dining neighbours, Nectar also sets itself apart by offering its award-winning menu at often far more reasonable prices than those of its competitors.
