Music on the Move
The Music Gallery has not always had a stable home-life. Originally located near the Ontario College of Art and Design, the Music Gallery later moved into a basement location on Queen Street. In 1991, it found shelter on Richmond Street, on the outskirts of the more mainstream entertainment district, and began to host up to 150 concerts a year. In 2000, however, gentrification sent the Music Gallery packing again. Its home was slated to be bulldozed and turned into condominiums, and the Music Gallery resorted to a nomadic existence, hosting events in alternate venues throughout the city. Finally, in 2001, the Music Gallery set down roots in the St. George the Martyr Anglican Church at the southern end of Grange Park, returning the Music Gallery to its geographical roots.
