The folks running the kitchen at Musa certainly like to throw a wrench into even their most carefully laid plans. A Middle Eastern themed restaurant with pattern-painted exterior walls affecting something straight out of Marakesh, Musa in actuality has enough on their menu to endear themselves to fans of almost any national cuisine. Amazing vegetarian and even vegan friendly dishes fill the menu in such variety that one could almost forget that meat was ever a fixture on North American menus, if only for the brief moment before scanning over to the excellent meat mains section on the specials board.
Cuisine that Almost Anyone Can Call Home
The menu at Musa is certainly Middle Eastern and Mediterranean based, what with plump rice stuffed grape leaves on the appetizer list and the unavoidable calamari as well as locally familiar salads offered both as starters and as snacks for those just popping in to meet a friend or grab a drink after a long day at work. Sandwiches, pastas and a board changed daily with market fresh specials reflect the local attitude of the powers that be but all the same, the overall flavour of the place is a kind of United Nations friendly approach to a caustic region, such that almost any nation could call this cuisine home.
A Comfortable, Casual Environment for Dining with Friends
Hip, laid back, with a substantial side patio and airy, open indoor environment (as well as a great bar to grab a drink or two) Musa has personality to spare. A favourite amongst the local art scene types who live in neighbouring Kensington Market, Queen Street West and who flock to the lower rents of Little Portugal to the west, Musa’s quirky atmosphere and quirkier menu offer considerable like mindedness.
