Artistic Tradition
A cornerstone of the Yorkville gallery district, Mira Godard Gallery was established in 1962 and remains one of the largest commercial art galleries in the country. The three floors of exhibition space alternate between paintings, sculpture and other paper works. Contemporary Canadian and international art has been the focus from the start, serving corporate and private collectors, as well as furnishing many public galleries, museums or offices. First-time buyers are provided with assistance to navigate around the purchasing process and experienced collectors have come to trust the gallery’s skill at matching prospective purchasers to the perfect work.

Great Walls
Among the artists represented by Mira Godard are many celebrated names, including the estates of those who worked closely with the gallery in past decades. The scarred landscapes photographed by Edward Burtynsky, magically realist paintings of Alex Colville, multi-frame photographs by Jane Hinton, still-life creations of Mary Pratt and landscape images captured by Takao Tanabe are just a few names whose latest work can be glimpsed for free by gallery visitors. A new exhibition opens about once a month, within a space that allows for multiple events, including thematic group shows featuring the resident artists.

Gallery Scene
Mira Godard Gallery was a pioneer in the evolution of Yorkville from a residential suburb to bohemian cultural centre to a hub for refined visual artistry. The neighbourhood galleries work together in the promotion of Canadian art to locals and tourists, including their co-ordination of a regular art walk with guided tours.
