Located at the southwest corner of Bloor and Spadina, the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre offers recreational and educational programs for people of all ages, along with movies and stage performances at the 288-seat Al Green Theatre. Many of the cultural events are tied to Jewish holidays and heritage celebrations. Fitness programs are open to all, including a full gym facility with personal training, basketball, volleyball and floor hockey leagues or pick-up games and a swimming pool with lessons and other aquatic programs. Wellness services are also provided on-site, including nutritionists, massage therapists and stress management workshops. Adult specialty classes range from belly dancing to boxing, martial arts to yoga and Pilates, strength training to running clinics.
Youth Groups
Much of the programming at the Miles Nadal JCC is geared to younger people. Fitness programs include a soccer school, ballet classes and introduction to gym etiquette. An after-school program includes computers and cooking, drama and drawing lessons, sewing and swimming. There are also courses in chess, pottery and babysitting. Music education can be explored via the Suzuki program, ear training and sight singing lessons, or through membership in the youth choir.
Adult Education
Learning does not end at adolescence at the Miles Nadal JCC. The education department provides regular Hebrew lessons, and courses covering both cultural and spiritual Jewish topics. The Minto Technology for Youth Centre provides computer training to all ages, including one-day seminars on topics from software to web searching. Pottery classes for adults provide the opportunity to explore creativity through clay. And the Good Age Club coordinates events for those aged 55-plus.
