Exclusive fusion
A fusion of the Mediterranean and the Middle East, Mideastro presents a one-of-a-kind dining experience to Thornhill. Although fusion has been a hot cuisine commodity for some time now, Mideastro brings these two fares together for the first time in Toronto. A lovely space featuring slate rock walls, sepia-tone photos of architectural marvels, a small bar and a simple dining-room set up, Mideastro gives northern Torontonians a reason not to drive downtown.
Mid-day fixings
Open for lunch and dinner, Mideastro offers an array of fusion plates, as well as some pure and unmixed traditional dishes. Mid-day diners will see crispy-fried tuna cakes with arugula and citrus aioli, baby spinach and apple salad with homemade blueberry vinaigrette, as well as poached pear and blue cheese on bitter greens with candied pecans and shallot wine vinaigrette. For something a bit more substantial, Mideastro serves smoked salmon frittatas, veal marsala, and grilled foccacia topped with red pepper, zucchini, eggplant, portobello mushroom, and goat cheese.
The signature blend
A slew of greens and platters introduce the dinner menu, with selections in caprese and Israeli salads, as well as sharing tapa-style plates of babaganoush and beef cigars. Entrees span the notable Italian dishes (like penne in tomato basil sauce, seafood linguini, and vodka rigatoni), as well as their signature fusion fare. Grilled double-cut lamb chops, marinated in lemon and thyme, is served alongside couscous, grilled veggies, and is topped with a stewed apricot tomato sauce. Other interesting picks include lemon-garlic calamari with tabouli salad, jumbo shrimp marinated in chilli-smoked paprika, and rib eye steak dressed in a marsala demi-glace.
