Home away from home
This Etobicoke pub is the kind of place where you can’t help but feel at home. McDaid’s is often crowded with regulars and the staff work hard to make sure newbies get to know everybody from day one. This isn’t the kind of pub where you can slink in and hide out in the corner. Be sure to bring your social skills — you’re almost guaranteed to make a few new acquaintances.
Tap your taste
Known primarily as a pub, McDaid’s taps flow with beers including Labatt Blue, Harp, Guinness, Coors, Alexander Keith’s and Strongbow cider. As far as food goes, their menu consists of deep fried deliciousness! You’ll find juicy burgers, chicken fingers, fries, sausages and wings served with your choice of sauce. While the pub doesn’t have its own parking lot, there is street parking out front. If you end up having a few too many and can’t drive home, let bar staff know. They’ll issue you a pass so you can park overnight without worry.
Singing the bartender’s blues
On Saturdays, from May to September, McDaid’s hosts a dinner-hour blues band. From 3 p.m.-6 p.m., you can dine to the licks of the house band — a group of local musicians that changes its collective name weekly. Another summer bonus? McDaid’s patio. This 38-seat patio has plenty of space for large groups.
