The menu at Joso’s features antipasti items like fish soup, arugola salad and marinated fish, octopus, shrimp, olives and capers. Also available for starters are slices of air-cured beef, finely sliced prosciutto and smoked rainbow trout. The spaghettini toppings include a Mediterranean tomato sauce of octopus, a sauce of sepia simmered in ink and mussels and clams sautéed in tomato sauce. And risotto dishes for parties of two or more include Joso’s recipe from the Kornati islands, with assorted shellfish and a hint of tomato prepared in fisherman style.
Seafood Specialties
Joso’s selection of entrées has played a large part in building its legend: Lightly floured deep fried squid or tiger shrimp, steamed morsels of octopus, fresh whole squid grilled to tenderness and shellfish or shrimp steamed in white wine are among the choices. Flame grilled whole large prawns are dressed with lemon garlic butter and other ocean treasures are grilled over an open flame. Lamb chops or filetto of beef are also kitchen staples, and entrées are enhanced by the side dishes like grilled peppers, steamed chard and stewed vegetables.
