Burlington, Ontario became the home of the first Indigo bookstore in 1997. The store quickly became a pioneer, creating a chain of super-bookstores across the country. In 2001, Indigo merged with Chapters Inc to form Canada’s largest book retail chain. The books at Indigo are neatly organized in categorizes on tall wooden bookshelves and range in topic from self-help to science fiction. It is a comfortable shopping environment in which finding a gem among the thousands of volumes is quite common.
Magazines, Music and Coffee, Too
Although the volume upon volume of books is the main attraction at the store, Indigo also features a large collection of magazines and music. Browse through the massive magazine section while sipping on a latte or herbal tea from the in-store gourmet coffee shop. Or flop down on one of the plush chairs to enjoy a few pages of a new book before you commit to buying it. Young readers will love the children’s section which houses a large selection of books. Frequent shoppers often invest in an iREWARDS card, which rewards regular customers through discounts and a points system.
Gift Giving Made Easy
Looking to buy a gift for the book lover on your list? To complement its large selection of books, music and magazines, Indigo also features gift wrapping, greeting cards, and gifts such as bubble bath, stationary sets, and picture frames. While you’re at it, pick up something for yourself. Indigo makes it practically impossible not to.
