Night and Day
An early entry in the lounge bar format in the neighbourhood, If Lounge is either a temporary anomaly or a prognostication of the future for what is now the heart of Toronto’s Portuguese community. During daylight hours If Lounge operates as a coffee shop, perfect for midday meetings or reading. At night, it dons its hip booze lounge guise. This dichotomy makes it a fine place for a quiet meeting for two, working over a drink, or a large gathering of friends.

Lantern-Lit Patio
Light-coloured wood floors, high ceilings, and lots of space are the design standards put to use for this upscale joint. The bar is sturdy and wood, the chairs a silvery polymer. The east wall is made up entirely of windows, which open out onto the lantern-lit patio that stretches along that side of the building.

What You’ll Find
The full bar is well stocked for the martini and mixed drink crowd that is their target market. Several brands of beer are also available on tap, for a more casual after-work wind down. The staff at the If Lounge are friendly - so much so that it doesn’t seem a bother if you end up having to get up to place your orders, as they play it pretty laissez-faire on a quieter night. This laid-back friendliness balances the chic decor to give If Lounge a real community feel.
