Hoppy’s got its name from Amitha and Terence Hopman. They moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake from Sri Lanka to extend their passion for hospitality to visitors from around the globe. Breakfasts are a highlight of every overnight stay. Asian fusion and vegetarian flavours are served each morning, and with a special emphasis on “heart-smart” nutrition.
Calm Oasis
The beds at Hoppy’s are graced with “heavenly dreams” mattresses. The backyard swimming pool awaits a plunge during the summer months, and a living room and library provide room for relaxation within the ranch-style bungalow. Most of the supplies required for an escapist getaway are provided by the hosts – from bathrobes and curling irons to umbrellas and bicycles. The house is less than a 20 minute walk from all the scenic charms of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s central area. That distance that makes Hoppy’s a calm oasis during a trip spent shopping, wining, dining and watching all of the legendary theatrical productions at the Shaw Festival.
Suites and Sweets
There are two rooms at Hoppy’s Bed and Breakfast: The Cinnamon Bark Suite, with an in-suite bathroom, and the smaller Mint Leaf Room, both accommodating a maximum of two guests. There’s a two-night minimum stay between April and October, with a seasonal discount on weekdays during the off-season. Hoppy’s also offers classes in gourmet cooking, and pastries are baked on the premises. Most famous are Amitha’s raisin swirls and the Tuscan-style roast vegetable tart.
