A Unique Hotel
Built in 1889, the Gladstone is the oldest continuously operating hotel in Toronto. It is a thriving hub of the city’s arts scene, and with a new mandate to nurture and improve that community. The building is composed of an affordable hotel for arts-hungry visitors, accessible studio space, and three separate performance venues making this a multi-functional and thriving space.

Room at the Inn Crowd
For visitors to Toronto, or for locals who are looking to get away without skipping town, the Gladstone offers a more singular experience than your average chain hotel. There are 15 artist-designed rooms, each with its own identity and aesthetic. Other artist-designed rooms are sleek and minimalist, while still others are sumptuous and lush.

Three Bars for the Arts
You don’t need to check-in at the Gladstone to have a good time here. The main floor features three separate bars that serve as event venues for the Toronto arts community, with a diverse roster of programming. The Ballroom, plays host to live indie rock, queer dance parties, film screenings, fundraisers, and a great Café.

Karaoke
Next door is the slightly more intimate Melody Bar, home of Toronto’s most popular karaoke nights, which run Thursdays through Saturdays. The third performance space, the tiny Art Bar, holds just 28 people and is perfect for literary readings, jazz and experimental music concerts, and is named after a weekly figure drawing class that has been running since 1968.
