The brainchild of Laura-Jean, owner of Fresh Baked Goods, the Fresh Collective began in 2003 with the goal of uniting some of Toronto’s most creatively-minded designers under one roof. The result is a fun boutique on Queen Street West that specializes in unique items ranging from jewelry and handbags to clothes and blankets.
Every two weeks, a different designer takes over the window display. It’s a colourful foreshadowing of the selection of clothing, women’s and children’s accessories, jewelry, handbags and gifts found inside. With so much to look at, the store overwhelms the senses. New merchandise is brought in at least twice a week, and with fifteen designers running the show, there is never a shortage of creative items.
On Site Design
It’s not unusual to walk into this store and find designers at work. Whether it’s a dress being cut on the back table or jewelry being assembled on the front counter, the Collective has a laid-back approach to design. Catering to any woman who desires something unique, the Fresh Collective is a forward-thinking design store. Looking for a gift? Laura-Jean has a line of do-it-yourself kits. And for the mother-to-be on your list, check out the adorable baby designs.
