Profile Last Updated: October 23, 2008
When the floundering and deemed-unhip Movenpick closed shop on a piece of golden Yorkville real estate, famed restaurateur Tony Longo (formerly of Splendido and Centro) moved Flow in to give Yorkville what it was begging for. There are no violins or stiff upper lips at this establishment. Rather, the atmosphere is so hip that it’s sometimes even hard to pay attention to one’s food.
Step into the Flow
Although Flow’s management consciously has a mandate to make Flow one of the few places in Yorkville where anyone can come right in and have a bite to eat or party to the wee hours of the morning, the crowd is unquestionably chic. The rotating colours emanating from projection at its entrance has perhaps been too strong of a call for the city’s scenesters. But it’s really a fun environment inside, and everyone should check it out. An upper-level dining area and a lower-level lounge tastefully allow one to enjoy a quieter, conversational dinner or to be as boisterous as one likes downstairs. Between the two areas is a waterfall, and both sections are served by the cutting edge technology of Dymex-produced sound.
A Colorful and Eclectic Menu
Flow offers totally separate dinner, lunch, lounge (available from 4 p.m. onwards) and brunch menus. Flow’s menu is diverse, with a definite Asian influence and some items that can only be traced back to some chef’s wild imagination. The desserts are impossible to say no to. Whether you come to Flow for the atmosphere, the diverse menu or for one of their growingly popular cocktails, Flow offers you a taste of New Yorkville.
