Antique Mecca
Toronto has more than its fair share of excellent antique shops, but for the ardent treasure-hunter, sometimes the choice can become limited. For a change of pace, visit Elegantiques! This isn’t your typical downtown antique shop. First off, there’s ample free parking. Elegantiques is a single-floor store that counts on a loyal base of repeat customers who show their appreciation by bringing coffee to staff on a regular basis. The friendly, laid-back atmosphere makes the shop a pleasure to browse. There are no pressure sales here.

Costume Collections
Elegantiques specializes in a wide variety of antiques and collectibles, but their china and jewelry collections are among the most popular. Customers will find costume jewelry in silver, brass and gold settings, embellished with gems, stones and colourful charms. Rings, rhinestone bracelets and brooches all look like the real deal for half the cost. If you’re aiming to adorn your walls instead of yourself, Elegantiques stocks prints and paintings in all styles. Fuzzy, nostalgic portraits, watercolour landscapes, still life shots, and more contemporary abstractions can be found both framed and unframed.

Sales and Specials
While sales and special events will pop up throughout the year without warning, customers can almost always count on a January sale at Elegantiques. If you have questions about anything in the store, just ask. Elegantiques’ expert staff can answer any questions you may have about the merchandise. Owner Deborah Peacock, who opened the shop in 2001, is a certified appraiser and conductor of estate sales, so staff members are well-trained to help you out.
