While the recipes at Crazy Sushi Bistro follow traditional Japanese techniques and recipes, bistro chefs like to spice the menu up every now and then. Appetizers include edamame, tofu steak and gyoza, beef and veggie dumplings are fried to a crisp and served with a tangy soy dipping sauce. The bistro also offers favourites like spring rolls, meat and veggie tempura, grilled calamari and kaki frai — deep fried oysters served with Japanese katsu sauce. The appetizer menu is extensive, so if you can’t decide, opt for the seafood platter for two. This sampler lets you taste test shrimp salad roll, kaki frai, spicy tuna tartar and BBQ ebi skewers. All of the fish found on the seafood menu is top-notch, sashimi grade fish.
Oodles of noodles
Noodle and rice bowls are popular at Crazy Sushi Bistro. You’ll find soba and udon options galore, or you can order Chinese-inspired dishes like the stir-fry rice bowl, the spicy Korean, or the unajyu — grilled freshwater eel glazed with a sweet soy-ginger sauce and served with steamed short grain rice. Alternatively, try one of the house specialties like the sizzling shitake, a dish that combines plump mushrooms with napa cabbage, sprouts, garlic, sake and soy. The wasabi pepper shrimp comes sautéed in a wasabi pepper sauce with asparagus, shitake and enoki mushrooms. All the ingredients at the bistro are fresh, MSG-free and made to order.
