Dazzling Art Deco
Dating back to 1930, the College Park building was marked by its marble floors and walls, rich paneling and Art Deco opulence. Its original incarnation was serving as the flagship Eaton’s department store and head office and revived some 50 years later as a luxury retail and living complex. The current primary tenants include a Winners fashion outlet, DeBoer’s furniture and a Dominion supermarket. The lower level is largely devoted to food, including many familiar chain kiosks and services catering to residents of the building and those passing through the College subway station, offices, or the building’s provincial courts.

From Courts to Carlu
A truly unique element of College Park is The Carlu ballrooms and concert hall, closed for many years but now revived to provide a facility for cultural, corporate and private events. The interior was developed in the early 1930s in the Art Moderne style, but construction didn’t evolve due to the Great Depression and Second World War. The original splendor was revived and expanded in 2001.

Retail Renaissance
The department store legacy of the Eaton family lives on with the unpredictable bargain paradise of Winners, and refined décor elements supplied by DeBoer’s. Combined with a few smaller boutiques focused on bedding and perfume and services expressly catering to every need of modern life, College Park is a genuine crossroads of sophistication and practicality in the heart of downtown.
