Located near the top of the Yonge Street strip, the Brownstone Bistro is a colourful setting enhanced by occasional live jazz performers and martini specials. Half-price appetizers are a staple of the late afternoon happy hours. Special menus are available in conjunction with live theatre events, or diners desiring a gala night on the town and weekends are dominated by brunch. Brownstone specializes in hosting special occasions in addition to catering.
Stimulating Tastes
The main menu begins with a soup of the day, or Brownstone’s signature tomato soup recipe. Gourmet salads include warm goat cheese and mixed house greens, Caesar and Greek, spinach and Thai warm chicken, chicken kebab and seafood. Bruschetta, chicken tenders, calamari, spring rolls and baked coat cheese are some of the appetizers. Sandwiches include grilled chicken baguette, open-faced tuna melt and chicken quesadillas. Wraps come filled with roasted vegetables and mushrooms, avocado and feta, roast beef and more. Burgers take the form of beef or chicken. Pasta is prepared in a range of flavours and pizzas are cooked from scratch. The grill also delivers steak, chicken, salmon filet, grilled tiger shrimp and filet mignon, served with fresh market vegetables.
Weekend Ritual
Brunch at Brownstone is just as diverse as lunch or dinner. Beyond the basic three-egg dishes and steak and eggs, the eggs Benedict are served with smoked salmon, mushroom or chicken. The omelettes are filled with mushroom and mozzarella, a Western-style mixture, or grilled chicken and avocado. Daily fresh quiche, smoked salmon frittata or Nutella and banana pancakes can also kick start the day. And the French toast comes with a mountain of banana and strawberry compote, or sprinkled with cinnamon, garnished with whipped cream.
