The Hamburger Alternative
While the concept of a quick bite to eat and perhaps even a combo may be familiar to fast food diners, Etobicoke’s Brar Sweets & Restaurant offers a definite twist on expectations. With great value remaining at the forefront, Brar offers diners an extensive menu of vegetarian Indian food with speed and efficiency that will have them checking to make sure they’re not parked under the golden arches.

Niche Noshing
While Brar may not have the variety that one seems to expect with traditional fast food, the menu offers a wide selection within its chosen niche of Indian vegetarian fare. Saag paneer (dry curry with cheese and red/green peppers, black lentils, cauliflower, potato and onions), chickpea malai (cream, kofta balls and mild shahi) and mattar paneer (peas in a sweet tomato sauce or mild gravy, layered with silver leaf) are all staples on the menu. Standards such as rotis and basmati rice are also popular with the crowds. Combos are also available - to again emphasize the fast food-like experience - with the most popular of these being the Thali Combo. Of course, also available are the namesake ‘sweets’. Prepared daily, these cakes, pastries and other snacks are known as much for their great taste as for their artistic decoration and preparation.

For Here or To Go?
Brar offers its selections for a takeout experience in a variety of sized containers, made to suit all appetites. While the takeout option is a popular one, Brar Sweets & Restaurant also offers a cafeteria-style dining room for those who are in less of a rush. But whether one takes it home or eats on location, value is always on the top of the menu. Complete meals with tax and tip are available for a reasonable price - an extra dessert for the road might be worth considering at that value.
