The Black Dog takes environmental responsibility to a whole new level. Not only does the pub offer local, organic produce whenever possible, it also has a long and impressive selection of Ontario wines and it sells fair trade coffee. The Black Dog also uses biodegradable plastic bags and recycled takeout containers, its used fryer oil is converted into biodiesel, table candles are soy-based and green light bulbs are all on dimmers or timers. Ask your server for even more info on what The Black Dog does to cut down on negative environmental impact.
We Crave Sustenance!
For starters, try the slow roasted onion soup, nachos or coconut tiger shrimp with a sweet chilli sauce for dipping. Mains include traditional pub fare such as burgers, pizza and wings or you can opt for schnitzel with spatzle, wild salmon fettuccine or steak and fries. If you’re looking for something a little lighter, try the pub’s heart-smart menu. It’s not just the Earth they’re saving; the Black Dog is looking out for your well-being too! Wild salmon burgers offer healthy omega fatty acids, grilled Ontario rack of lamb is served with a sweet reduction of blueberry and brandy and you can substitute tofu for meat in both the chicken curry and the Thai chicken wrap. Low-fat and vegan options are clearly highlighted on the Pub’s menu.
Let Us Entertain You
Every Saturday night, enjoy live jazz along with your meal when The Bittersuite Jazz Band takes the stage from 6pm-10pm. For mid-week music, try Thursday nights at 8pm when the Pub has a rotating roster of jazz bands for your enjoyment. During warmer months you’ll want to try out the giant, elaborately landscaped patio. Flowers, waterfalls and impressive sky-high fences edge the outdoor dining area.
