Since opening in 2003, Banjara Indian Cuisine has been a favourite among those who can’t get enough of their bargain lunch buffet. From the homemade naan breads to the family-style dining, Banjara Indian Cuisine gives traditional Indian dishes a twist. With nearly 70 items such as Tandoori, chicken and vegetables curries and biryanis, this restaurant stands out among the recent influx of Indian cuisine. Their pakoras and samosas, which are delicately fried and crisp, are considered some of the best in Toronto.
Better than Sliced Bread
Banjara Indian Cuisine is also known for their delicious homemade naan breads made of organic flour, honey and rye. There’s the keema naan stuffed with minced meat, herbs and spices; the methi naan stuffed with fenugreek leaves and spices and the garlic naan stuffed with garlic, cilantro and spices.
Meat and Drink to Me
For the meat lovers, this restaurant serves everything from succulent lamb, tender goat, beef and herbed chicken. However, vegetarians shouldn’t get discouraged. There are 17 meat-free dishes to choose from such as their asparagus fry, mushroom curry and beetroot fry. To take a breather after such a huge meal, try a masala tea which is an Indian tea made with milk, ginger, bay leafs and cardamom. Or cool off with a sweet mango milk shake or home made Indian ice cream in pistachio, lychee and coconut.
It's all About Pride
This no-frills restaurant prides itself on being family-oriented. Take-out, catering and delivery are available while an open kitchen and extensive wine list rival even the most posh Toronto restaurant.
