Located near the West-End intersection of Dundas and Keele, the Axis Gallery and Grill has been quenching the need for food, drink, music and art since 1997. As the first area venue to serve alcohol when the local ban on liquor sales was lifted, it has become a well-beloved hangout in this increasingly trendy neighbourhood.
More than Just Food
The Axis features a new exhibit every month and its brick walls are adorned with the work of up-and-coming local artists and photographers. Perhaps you’ll discover the next great name and add a fine piece to your collection. Tuesdays are jam nights, with local musicians taking the stage for spontaneous melody-making. If your instrument is your voice, you may want to try Karaoke on Thursdays. Friday and Saturday nights see the Axis hosting live jazz and blues bands (with the occasional classic rock acts thrown in for good measure). Finally, for a truly exceptional dining experience, join Juno-nominee Julian Fawth for piano brunch weekends.
And Speaking of Food and Drink
The Axis menu combines grill and pub favourites, including spicy wings, barbecue chicken and fall-off-the-bone BBQ ribs. The usual Asian fare, including butter chicken curry and a hot-and-spicy vegetable stir-fry, is also on offer. Finally, to quench your thirst, a number of local and European brews are available on tap.
