Located just off Queen West, Amoroso carries a cache of unique and hard-to-find music. Some of the most popular genres include jazz, classical, opera, rock, R&B, blues, world, and soundtracks. The word “Amoroso”, as it applies to music, translates into “tender and affectionate.” This is what the staff at the shop try to put across to every customer that comes into the shop.
Amoroso carries new and used CDs and vinyl records including LPs and 45s. You can pick up albums from jazz greats like John Coltrane and Nina Simone, opera singers Maria Callas and Placido Domingo, and classical composers such as Mozart and Bach. You’ll also see violin and cello concerts, world music collections, and early 20th century songs.
Buy and Sell
If you’re looking to unload some of your own collection to make room for new music, Amoroso is also in the business of buying quality recordings from fellow audiophiles. Since the shop is located downtown, parking can be an issue. Fortunately, Amoroso has limited parking available, so if you do decide to take your collection in to be appraised, call ahead and speak to management. They’ll set up a time and date for you to swing by, and be sure to keep a space free for you. Same goes for good quality video recordings on DVD and Blu-ray. Be sure to call ahead to organize a time to stop by and talk trades.
