Even though Allusion Restaurant isn’t as subtle as its name would suggest, this fine dining establishment takes up its share of space in the Richmond Hill area. Perhaps this is a luxury of the northern Torontonians, since downtowners tend to be subjected to small eateries where spaciousness is near non-existent. Call it the bane of the urban experience, but it’s nice to know there are restos where you won’t bump elbows with the diner next to you. Allusion Restaurant provides this and much more a short distance from the concrete jungle.
Truly Intimate Dining
Large, bright, and airy are the words to describe the ambiance of Allusion. An entire wall of windows at the entrance are beautifully draped while still emitting a warm glow. The rest of the room is swathed in tones of deep blue, vibrant red, and soft yellow, with some stonework in one area to add some texture. The tables are arranged within ideal proximity to one another, allowing for truly intimate dining with your tablemates. Tasteful accents of internationally obtained art and pottery are sparingly placed throughout the room, making for a space that is not over-cluttered or too ostentatious.
Tastes of the World
Allusion Restaurant houses a well-rounded bill of fare with the diverse tastes of the Mediterranean. Smaller dishes like escargot, grilled tiger shrimp, prime beef kebabs, and foie gras are diverse plates to pique the appetite. For the main entrée, Allusion provides butter chicken, provimi veal marsala, lobster risotto, lamb biryani, caviar linguine, and pizza with filet mignon.
