Riverdale’s Favourite Spot
This pub is known equally for its homey, neighbourhood vibe as for its amazing selection of beers, wines and spirits. Indeed, Allen’s Restaurant on the Danforth has been delighting locals and visitors alike since first opening in 1987. Featuring a menu of traditional pub fare, it dresses items up to rank it as one of the most respected casual eateries on Toronto’s east side. Allen’s is not only sought after by the Riverdale and Greektown residents who call the area home. Visitors from across the Viaduct are more than happy to make the trek to take in some of Allen’s signature charm.

A Broad Menu of Dressed Up Pub Favourites
Allen’s appetizers demonstrate the kind of inventiveness that the kitchen approaches all dishes with. There are capon wings and Kuala Lumpur shrimp, and quince poached in red wine with Belgian endive, walnuts and Asiago cheese. For salads, guests can enjoy a Thai beef salad or a blackened potato salad. Many other options are available to choose from. There is a cornmeal crust pizza, bison back ribs, and sautéed calves liver. A selection of simple pastas is also featured, as well as a selection of Indian-via-England curries.

Inspired by the Irish-American Saloons of New York City
Decorated in warm woods and dark colours, Allen’s takes its cue from the New York City Irish saloon. The award-winning patio is wrapped warmly around a weeping willow tree that protrudes from its centre. Allen’s has enough sun, shade, and quiet corners to keep it hopping all spring, summer, and fall. Featuring live traditional Celtic music indoors two nights of the week, the Celtic theme does not end at the décor. It is even represented on the menu and Scotch list. Indeed, Allen’s features one of the most extensive selections of single malts in the GTA. An all VQA wine list, moreover, shows local pride, and gives our very own wine producing regions a boost.
