No Craving Left Unfulfilled
The largest Japanese restaurant in Markham can fulfill every sort of dining experience, from brisk business lunches to romantic dinners. The menu features a wide variety of sushi and the formal teppanyaki entrees. A Taste of Japan also offers bento box delivery during the midday hours: Vegetable tempura, chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, shrimp tempura and marinated beef ribs are always ready to go. Boxed sushi and sashimi combos and platters are also prepared on short notice, allowing for those Japanese tastes to be imported to any office.

Setting a Course for Flavour
A Taste of Japan’s appetizer options range from boiled green beans, pork dumplings and pickles to beef sashimi, soft shell crab and grilled Norway mackerel. Starters from the sushi bar include salads and pizza, mini octopus and marinated scallop ribs. Sushi rolls range in price and complexity: The roll named for Toronto has wasabi dressing with avocado toppings. And the Dragon jumbo roll combines tempura with roasted eel toppings. Sushi and sashimi can be combined on platters, including boats of salmon or lobster, and plenty of miso soup and side salad. The set course meals are an economical way to indulge in filet mignon, tofu steak, marinated beef ribs and more. Rice dishes are served in a Japanese hot pot and the noodle dishes include udon or soba in hot broth.

A Taste of Teppan
Both lunch and dinner at A Taste of Japan can be enjoyed with more formality, grilled on an iron hotplate in the Teppan tradition. Miso soup, salad, assorted sushi rolls, vegetables, steamed rice and dessert enhance each entrée combination, running the gamut of seafood, chicken and beef combinations, in addition to a strictly vegetarian alternative. The evening menu incorporates a live lobster set, which includes filet mignon, filet of salmon and jumbo scallops. Teppan items are also offered a la carte, including a whole live giant clam.
